Biography for Press Use

Delfin, born in Ankara, Turkey, is a composer and artist. She is interested in finding the middle ground in art— such as installations, multimedia creations, and genre bending theatrical works. Her work as an antidote to fear of death I eat the stars for ensemble and video—premiered at Curtis Institute—experiments with mediums of video art directed and shot by her, which include the conceptual sounds of the body imitating the sounds of the universe then uses her family members’ MRI footage complimentary to the music. Her other chamber pieces has been premiered I by Curtis musicians include Matem for string quartet, and wreck.repair.repeat. She had chances to showcase her installation and sound art in Ankara, including her work “Heartbeat Waltz” that had a cow heart hidden inside a drawer.

Her orchestral works "Krizantem" and "An Absurd Image" were performed by the Curtis Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jeff Milarsky. This year, Delfin premiered her Piano Concerto "I Shall Bleed Through Holy Circuits" with Vimbayi Kaziboni and Thomas Weaver on April 2026.

She was a composition fellow in SoundSCAPE & Lake Champlain Music Festival and she received the Contemporary Performance Prize Commission at Cortona Sessions and the Architecture Collaboration Prize at Fontainebleau Schools of Music & Fine Arts. She has had chances to  collaborate with Cedille Records on a recording project for Oliver Talukder, winner of the 2025 Emerging Artist Competition. Besides these programs, she had a chance to work with composers such as Michael Jarrell, David Serkin Ludwig, François Paris, Alexandros Markeas, Donnacha Dennehy, Allain Gaussin, George Lewis, Nina C. Young, Agusta Read Thomas, Jessie Montgomery, Gabriela Ortiz and many more.

Delfin is also a photographer, videographer, and actor. She has a particular interest with writing—especially lyrics, poetry, or reviews on preexisting visual art/films.

On July 2026, her piece as an antidote to fear of death will be performed by Tanglewood Music Center in Seiji Osawa Hall. She is currently working on a piece for Philadelphia School of Ballet for their 2026/27 season, and a Saxophone and a Cello Duo Piece for FES Ensemble.

She is pursuing her undergraduate degree in the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Nick DiBeardino, Amy Beth Kirsten, Steven Mackey, and Jonathan Bailey Holland.
